It's been two whole weeks and I am sure you are dying to know what the Ellis peeps have been up to. Since I have nothing major to report, below you will find a random list of happenings~ I know you're excited! Here we go:
Trevor is still obsessed with Elmo, but he has branched out and his fascination now includes all Sesame Street characters. He really likes Zoe and Telly. He calls them by name and DEMANDS to watch them on TV. Thank goodness we have Video on Demand. Someone with a child must have invented this fabulous feature!
Ashley's current favorite movie is Mamma Mia! I had never seen it so my mom brought it for me to watch over Christmas. Ashley wanted to watch it with us, and the rest is history. It's probably not the most appropriate movie/musical for someone who's 6, (I know, mom of the year!) but she LOVES it! My mom left the movie here with us for Ashley to keep and she has watched it about 7 times in the past 10 days. She knows ALL of the words and we have even put some of the songs on her iPod. Someone sign this girl up for musical theater!
Jonathan's team is now 3-0 in district play. It's a great start and we are really proud of him and his players. The games have been fun to watch, thank goodness because we are only halfway through the season!
We all made it through our first week back at school, and now we are counting down the days 'till Spring Break!

Merry Christmas!
We had a very Merry Christmas at the Ellis house! Ashley's wishes came true~ Santa brought a Wii and an iPod and an American Girl Doll. Santa was so sweet to stay and set up the Wii so it would be ready to play first thing Christmas morning. We have been Wii-ing ever since and Ashley is unbeatable at bowling. Seriously. And, Jonathan downloaded some old classics like Super Mario Bros (for me!) and Zelda (for him). So fun! The iPod is hot pink as Ashley requested and she has been jammin' around the clock. She can even Wii while listening to the iPod! The AG doll's name is Charlotte and she has eaten with us at every meal (Ash moved the doll high chair next to the dining room table) and every time I turn around the doll has on a new outfit. Trevor liked the Clipo blocks, tool bench, and tricycle that were waiting for him from the big SC, but he was most interested in eating his morning Nutri Grain bar --he's addicted. We did get him to open one present from my mom, which was a bathtub basketball toy then he was done for the day. Literally. We finally opened the rest of his presents for him and he did play with them one at a time later that afternoon. Anyway, we hope you and yours had a wonderful day! Here are a few pictures~ enjoy!

Ellis Family 100-- Holiday Edition
It's been awhile since I posted, and since I got such rave reviews for the summer edition of the Ellis Family 100, I thought I'd give you a special holiday treat. Pour yourself a cup of hot chocolate, spike it with something, and have fun reading!
1. Yesterday was Jonathan's birthday.
2. He turned 30.
3. We celebrated just the 2 of us by going out to dinner.
4. We couldn't make any big, fancy plans because his team played in a tournament this weekend.
5. His team lost the tournament, but got second place in the one the weekend before last.
6. They start district play this Friday night.
7. I will not be taking my children to the district opener.
8. The location has been deemed "unsafe" for my 2 blond-headed children and their Caucasian mom.
9. I worry about Jonathan's safety a lot during basketball season.
10. I worry that he may sustain a personal injury from a referee for his "intense" coaching style.
11. I worry that the nails from the soles of his shoes will pierce his feet due to the extreme amount of stomping during a typical game.
12. I worry that he will be completely bald by the time he is 31.
13. I used to worry that he would be bald by 30, but he still has a little hair left as of yesterday.
14. I worry about his safety riding on all the yellow-dog school buses.
15. He assures me the buses are safe, but I question anything with no seat belts.
16. He used to listen to his iPod while riding on the bus as to mentally prepare himself for each game.
17. That was until I washed it in the washing machine.
18. OOPS.
19. I know, Wife of The Year.
20. Don't worry.
21. We let it air dry for a week and now it works again.
22. Santa is bringing Ashley an iPod.
23. She wants a hot pink one.
24. Are you surprised?
25. She also wants a Wii.
26. And an American Girl doll.
27. And everything else she sees that comes on TV.
28. She also has a list of things Trevor "wants".
29. You know, because she knows exactly what he's thinking.
30. He's probably thinking, "Once I'm older, girl you better watch out"!
31. He's probably also thinking, "If they ask me one more time what Santa says I'm gonna scream like I did when they put me on his lap"!
32. I know for certain ALL of the shoppers at the mall thought Trevor was being slowly and methodically tortured.
33. At least Ashley and I looked cute in the picture.
34. Yes, I said "and I".
35. I had to sit on Santa's lap so that Trevor could be in the picture.
36. I am still wondering why I even bothered.
37. Santa told me to sit down, so I did.
38. Oh well.
39. Wonderful way to spend $20.
40. That's nothing compared to what I've spent on lights for the outside of our house.
41. I put them up the week of Thanksgiving.
42. They all worked perfectly that day.
43. Since then, I have replaced the net lights on one bush twice.
44. I have also replaced an extension cord.
45. And a surge protector.
46. They are working right now.
47. If they go out again we will just be the ghetto house with half the lights blown out.
48. Both of my kids get very excited to see Christmas lights.
49. We have been to see the "dancing lights" in downtown Frisco too many times to count.
50. Have you been to see them?
51. If you are local you should really go.
52. If you are not local, then you should be sad that you live too far away.
53. Too far away from us and the lights.
54. Ashley named them the dancing lights because they literally dance to the music.
55. Some guy here in Frisco programmed the whole thing and it's amazing.
56. He also decks his house in lights and programs them to "dance" also.
57. I am not smart enough to do that.
58. I can only handle simple, mindless tasks like teaching kindergarten.
59. Are you laughing at my sarcasm?
60. You should be.
61. You should also be doing something much more productive besides reading this nonsense.
62. That's OK.
63. I procrastinate too.
64. Which is why I am blogging instead addressing Christmas cards.
65. Or wrapping presents.
66. Or getting the ingredients together for Snowman Soup.
67. That's what the kindergarten teachers are giving to our students for their Christmas present.
68. I should say Holiday present.
69. Whatever.
70. I wonder what kind of comments I will from the students about Snowman Soup.
71. They won't get it.
72. It's just hot chocolate mix with a candy cane, marshmallows, and Hershey kisses added.
73. But I guarantee a few of my star-students will be expecting Frosty to come walking in with a bowl full of chicken n' stars.
74. Soup sounds good right now.
75. It's 28 degrees outside.
76. I am cold if it's below 75.
77. It would be neat to have a white Christmas.
78. Last year it snowed in March.
79. Typical Texas.
80. It was fun though.
81. Especially since we had a late start to school that day.
82. I am need of a break from school right about now.
83. Thank goodness we only have 4 days left.
84. Actually, only 2 teaching days left.
85. We go all week but Thursday is Polar Express/pajama Day.
86. And Friday is Holiday Party day.
87. No quality teaching on those days.
88. Just quality babysitting.
89. Woo Hoo!
90. If I got paid as much per hour to teach as I did being a babysitter in high school and college I would be a gazillionaire.
91. Then I wouldn't stress over the $20 for Santa pictures.
92. Or blown-out Christmas lights.
93. I could buy each of my loyal blog readers everything on their wish lists.
94. Now you're glad you kept reading aren't you?!

96. On to tackle that to-do list.
97. Maybe I will get so much accomplished that I will need to do another Ellis Family 100 to blog about how productive I was.

Elvin the Ellis Elf
He arrived tonight and man, he was just in time. Wearing his little red suit and hat this "Elf on the Shelf" has taken our holiday to a new level. Here is Elvin's job description:
*keep a watchful eye on the Ellis children's behavior this holiday season
*fly nightly back to the North Pole to report on above mentioned behavior to Santa
*magically return back to our house and choose a new "hiding" place before children wake up
*smile and look pretty while children gleefully search for him the next morning
Let me just say that Ashley is IN TO IT!!! She kept peaking around the corner at him, saying "I'm watching you too, Elvin!" and she swears she saw his eyes move twice. Although it remains to be seen how holly-jolly her attitude stays for the next 26 days, she's obliging us all so far. As for Trevor...let's just hope that Elvin chooses to hide in places not within reach of The Tornado, or that little pixie hat could be history!

It seems like just yesterday that Ashley was just 6 little pounds, and now she is 6 big years! I can't believe it~ such a big girl! Thursday was her day and she went to school and took treats for her classmates, got a surprise birthday lunch from daddy, and her teacher even let the class have a mini dance party which Ashley totally loved. That night we were off to Gatti Town for a fun family dinner.
The real party, however, came to life on Saturday as we hosted all of Ashley's fancy, fashionable friends for manicures, makeovers, and a style show. So adorable! Our little diva darling is growing up!
